   ONE -OF-A-KIND PIECE !!!

  Growing up on the Big Island in Kailua, Kona, I spent countless summers and their nights by the beach where my Uncle Jack lived. There was something indescribable about the Hawaiian moon…its sometimes-golden glow, mingling with the last warm light of dusk, created a magic I could never quite describe in words.

   This black velvet painting, titled “Moonlight Swim”, is my attempt to capture those luminous nights and the enchanting lure I forever cherish.  

   As I painted, listening to old Hawaiian music, the song “Moonlight Swim” by Elvis Presley kept playing, without my prompting, way before I knew what to title this piece, as if guiding me. So, I let myself dream of alluring, self-made tiki huts, far from the bustle of the mainland, where the moon and surf held me.

   This entire visual experience with this painting was further brought together with the help my friend and fellow artist, Harry Decker.  His phenomenal carving detail and artistry pairs so well with this piece and provided the perfect framework to cradle this portal into this lunar wonderland. 

   I hope that whoever attains this feels the warm invite of Aloha…and the warm, plumeria scented, Hawaiian breezes this painting encapsulates.
